How to Install Minecraft After Key Activation
Once you've redeemed your Minecraft key at microsoft.com/redeem, the game is in your Microsoft library. Here's how to actually download and install both Java and Bedrock editions.

The Xbox app is the primary way to install Minecraft Bedrock Edition on Windows.

- Search for "Xbox"
- Install the Xbox app (if not already installed)
Install Minecraft Bedrock

- Sign in with the Microsoft account where you redeemed the key
- Click My Library in the left sidebar
- Find Minecraft in your games list
- Click Install
- Choose your installation location
- Wait for download (size: ~900 MB to 2 GB depending on version)
Method 2: Microsoft Store
Alternatively, you can install Bedrock through the Microsoft Store:
- Open Microsoft Store (Start menu โ Microsoft Store)
- Click your profile icon โ My Library
- Find Minecraft for Windows
- Click Install
Method 3: Minecraft Launcher (Java Edition)
Java Edition requires the Minecraft Launcher, which is separate from the Xbox app.
Download the Launcher
- Go to minecraft.net
- Click Download for Windows
- Install the Minecraft Launcher application
- Launch it and sign in with your Microsoft account
Install Java Edition
- In the Minecraft Launcher, click Minecraft Java Edition on the left
- Click Play (it will download the game files automatically)
- Wait for the download (~500 MB to 1 GB)
- Game launches after download completes
The Minecraft Launcher also lets you install Bedrock Edition โ both versions are available within the same launcher.
Unified Launcher: One App for Both Versions
The Minecraft Launcher (from minecraft.net) supports both versions:
| Tab in Launcher | Version |
|---|---|
| Minecraft Java Edition | Java |
| Minecraft for Windows | Bedrock |
| Minecraft Dungeons | Dungeons (if you own it) |
This is the most convenient setup โ one launcher for all your Minecraft games.

- Restart the Xbox app: Close completely (system tray) and reopen
Installation Complete: What's Next?
After installing, your first launch will load a few additional game files. Then:

Both versions are fully included with a key purchased from Marix. Install both and switch between them anytime from the Minecraft Launcher.
