Coverage and speeds
Airalo Tha-li roams on AIS (primary) and True Move H. These are Thailand's two largest networks, and the coverage map is effectively identical to a local SIM.
- Bangkok — solid 5G in central districts (Sukhumvit, Siam, Asok), 4G+ in residential areas.
- Phuket — 4G everywhere on major beaches (Patong, Karon, Kata, Mai Khao). Remote beaches and hills can drop to 3G.
- Krabi and islands (Phi Phi, Lanta) — 4G in main towns, occasional dead zones on boat transfers.
- Chiang Mai — 4G/5G in the city, weaker in the Doi Suthep hills.
Tethering is supported. The eSIM is data-only — no Thai number for SMS — but WhatsApp and Telegram calls work fine.
Installation and activation
Install the eSIM before you fly (over home Wi-Fi). Activate after landing in Thailand once the phone catches a local signal.
iOS: Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM → Use QR Code → scan the Airalo code. Label it "Thailand", keep your home SIM for calls, set Airalo as the data line, and turn off data roaming on the primary SIM.
