What changing your Apple ID country means
Your Apple ID region determines which apps, subscriptions, and prices are available to you in the App Store. By default it is set when you create your account and may not match your current location or the financial tools you have access to. Changing the country lets you access a different app catalog, regional subscription prices, and local services.

Why the standard method often fails
No card from the target country. Most users from Russia, Belarus, and other CIS countries do not have access to US, European, or Turkish bank cards.
Bank blocks the transaction. Even if you have a foreign card, the issuing bank or Apple may block the verification transaction.
Region locked down. In some countries Apple has applied additional restrictions that make adding a foreign card impossible.
Step-by-step fix
Method 1: Region that requires no payment method
- Open Settings → [your name] → Media & Purchases → Country/Region → Change Country or Region.
- Choose a country where Apple does not require a payment method when switching. Historically, some countries in Africa and Southeast Asia (Nigeria, Pakistan, etc.) have allowed this. The list changes regularly — verify before proceeding.
- On the payment method screen, select "None" if the option is available.
- Accept the terms and complete the region change.
Method 2: App Store gift card
- Purchase an App Store gift card for your target region (e.g., US, Turkey, Germany).
- Go to Settings → [your name] → Media & Purchases → Country/Region → Change Country or Region.
- Select the target country.
- At the payment method step, enter the gift card code in the redemption field — the balance will be credited and the region switch will complete.
- After the switch, no further payment method is needed until the balance runs out.
Method 3: Virtual card from a compatible provider
