Step 1. Install ExitLag
- Create an ExitLag account — Go to exitlag.com → "Sign Up" → create an account with your email. A 3-day trial is activated automatically.
- Download and install the app — In your account page click "Download" → choose Windows or Mac → run the installer. Installation takes 2–3 minutes.
- Log in to the app — Launch ExitLag → enter your email and password. The interface is in English.
Step 2. Select your game
- Open the game list — In the main menu click "Add Game" or type the name in the search box. ExitLag automatically detects running game processes.
- Choose the game server region — After selecting the game you will see region options: EU, NA, Asia, etc. Choose the region you actually play on.
Step 3. Choose a route
- Click "Routes" or "Find Best Routes" — ExitLag will measure several routes through different servers and show the ping for each. The process takes 30–60 seconds.
- Choose the route with the lowest ping — ExitLag sorts routes from best to worst. Pick the first in the list (Fastest) or try a few — sometimes the second is more stable.
- Enable Multipath (optional) — Multipath uses multiple routes simultaneously — reduces jitter and packet loss. Recommended for unstable connections.
Step 4. Connect and launch the game
- Click "Connect" — The Connect button activates routing. The status changes to green "Connected". ExitLag starts rerouting traffic through the selected route.
- Launch the game — After ExitLag connects, launch the game normally. For some games ExitLag offers to launch the game directly from the app — that works too.
- Check the ping in-game — Compare ping before and after. The difference is usually visible immediately. You can enable the ExitLag Overlay which shows current ping directly on top of the game.

If ExitLag is not helping
A few reasons why ping might not drop:
- Your route is already optimal — your ISP connects you well to the game server. ExitLag cannot improve on that.
- The issue is with your ISP — packets are being lost at the edge of your network; ExitLag cannot help before the first hop.
- Wrong game region selected — make sure you picked the same region you actually play on in the game.
- Wi-Fi instead of Ethernet — wireless adds instability; use a cable.

What is ExitLag and how is it different from a VPN?
ExitLag is a game traffic route optimizer, not a VPN. It reroutes your game packets through its own servers via a faster path to the game server. A VPN encrypts all traffic and often increases ping. ExitLag only handles game traffic and does not change your IP globally.

ExitLag is not reducing ping — what should I do?
Try: 1) switching the route (Routes button in the app), 2) choosing a different destination server, 3) restarting the app and game, 4) connecting via Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi. If nothing helps, your ISP already has an optimal path to the game server and ExitLag cannot improve it.
Does ExitLag need to stay open during the game?
Yes. ExitLag must be running and active (green status) for the entire gaming session. Minimising to the system tray keeps it working. Closing the app disables routing and ping returns to normal.
