Airalo Connected But No Internet โ How to Fix
The Airalo line is up, 4G or 5G shows in the corner, the partner carrier is identified โ but no internet. The browser spins, messengers won't send, maps refuse to load. This is the single most common complaint after installing an eSIM, and it almost always comes down to the line being registered but not selected for data, or a missing APN.
Why this happens
- Wrong line selected for data. If Cellular Data is still pointed at your home SIM or another eSIM, the phone tries to use them, and Airalo only handles voice.
- Missing or wrong APN. Without an APN, the network registers but data does not pass. Most Airalo packages use APN
internet, but some countries need a specific one (e.g.airaloorglobaldata). - Weak signal. In a hotel with thick walls or a basement, the partner carrier is technically present but throughput is near zero.
- Broken VPN or proxy. If a VPN app hangs after the network switches, it blocks all traffic system-wide.
How to fix it
- Make Airalo the data line. iPhone: Settings โ Cellular โ Cellular Data โ select Airalo. Android: Settings โ SIMs โ Mobile data โ Airalo.
- Check the APN. Open Airalo app โ My eSIMs โ your package โ APN section. On iPhone enter it under Settings โ Cellular โ Airalo Line โ Cellular Data Network โ APN. On Android: Settings โ SIMs โ Airalo โ Access Point Names โ New APN โ enter the name and value โ save as active.
- Enable Data Roaming. Settings โ Cellular โ Airalo Line โ Data Roaming โ ON.
- Reboot the phone. This applies APN changes and reinitializes the modem.
- Airplane Mode for 30 seconds, then off. The phone re-registers with the partner carrier and may grab a better network.
- Disable VPN. If a VPN app was active when the network changed, fully sign out of it.
- Move to a window. Partner carrier signal sometimes differs from your home SIM โ what works for one may not work for the other in the same spot.
