Airalo eSIM Weak Signal โ Dropouts and Slow Connection
Airalo is installed, internet sort of works, but the speed jumps around: now 4G, now one bar, downloads abort halfway. Your home SIM is fine in the same spot, the eSIM is not. This is not a defective package โ it is how Airalo works through partner carriers and roaming agreements.
Why this happens
- The eSIM partner in this country is weaker than your home carrier. Airalo signs deals with a specific operator (e.g., Turkcell in Turkey, Wind in Greece), and its coverage can be inferior to another operator in the same area.
- Signal indoors is weaker. Hotel walls, malls, subways attenuate 4G. Local subscribers may get priority access; roaming partners get lower priority.
- The phone is not picking the best network automatically. In Automatic mode the phone grabs the first available carrier, not always the strongest one.
- The eSIM package is capped at 3G/4G in this country. Not all packages support 5G even where it is available โ check the package description on airalo.com.
How to fix it
- Pick a carrier manually. iPhone: Settings โ Cellular โ Airalo Line โ Network Selection โ turn off Automatic โ wait 30 seconds โ pick the carrier with the strongest signal. Android: Settings โ SIMs โ Airalo โ Network operators โ Search.
- Check the partner in the Airalo app. Airalo app โ My eSIMs โ your package โ Supported Networks. Choose only from this list.
- Switch to LTE-only mode. iPhone: Settings โ Cellular โ Airalo โ Voice & Data โ choose LTE. 5G can be unstable while LTE stays solid.
- Move to a window or step outside. Test again. If signal is better there, the problem is indoor coverage.
- Reboot the phone. After a full restart the modem reselects the best network.
- Airplane Mode for 30 seconds. This rewrites the carrier session data.
- Check network status in Airalo. App โ My eSIMs โ package โ Network Status. Sometimes the partner carrier is having a real outage and you just need to wait.
