iTunes Code Redeemed But Balance Not Added โ How to Fix
You entered an iTunes gift card code, App Store confirmed "You've redeemed your code" โ but your Apple ID balance is still zero. The money is gone from the card, your wallet looks empty, and there's no explanation. This is alarming, but almost always recoverable: usually the credit is there, you're just looking in the wrong place.
Why this happens
- Code redeemed on a different Apple ID. Your iCloud account and your App Store account can be two different Apple IDs. The code lands on whichever ID was active in the App Store โ not the one you're checking.
- Regional currency conversion is pending. A USD card redeemed on a non-US Apple ID (Turkish, Indian, etc.) is converted into local currency, which can take up to 24 hours. During conversion the balance shows as 0 or pending.
- App Store cache. The backend may have credited your account while the local App Store screen still shows the old balance. Signing out and back in clears it.
- Double-click on Redeem. If you tapped "Redeem" twice in a row, the second request returns "already redeemed" but the credit was applied only once โ that's expected behavior.
How to fix it
- Confirm which Apple ID received the code. Settings โ [your name] โ Media & Purchases โ View Account. The email at the top is the ID that got credited. If it's not your main one, sign out via Settings โ Media & Purchases โ Sign Out, then sign in to the correct account.
- Open your balance correctly. App Store โ profile icon โ your name at the top. The credit is shown directly beneath your name (for example, "$25.00 USD" or "โบ250 Credit"). No number = zero balance on that ID.
- Force-refresh App Store. Swipe App Store off the recents tray, reopen. If that doesn't help, sign out of your Apple ID and sign back in.
- Wait 24 hours. For regional conversions (USD โ INR, USD โ TRY) Apple allows up to 24 hours. After that the credit must appear in your statement.
- Check your purchase history. App Store โ profile โ Purchase History. The most recent top-ups are listed by date and amount. If there is no "Gift Card Redemption" row, escalate to Apple.
- Open an Apple Support case.
getsupport.apple.comโ iTunes & App Store โ Apple ID Balance. Have the code (or a receipt), the redemption date, and your Apple ID ready. Apple resolves these in about 95% of cases within 48 hours.
