App Store Turkey: no payment method available โ how to fix
You switched your Apple ID to the Turkish region, opened the store โ and now see "No payment methods available" when trying to buy an app or subscription. This is one of the most common issues when using the Turkish App Store.
Why this happens
The Turkish App Store requires a Turkish card. Apple ties payment methods to your Apple ID region. If your region is Turkey (TR), only these are accepted:
- Turkish bank cards (Visa/Mastercard/Troy, issued by a Turkish bank)
- Apple Gift Cards for the TR region
- Turkish PayPal (in limited cases)
Non-Turkish cards โ including US, European, and Russian ones โ do not work in the Turkish App Store. This is an intentional Apple restriction, not a bug.
Fix: App Store Gift Card TR
The simplest solution is to buy an Apple App Store & iTunes Gift Card for the Turkey region and top up your Apple ID balance.
Steps:
- Buy a TR Gift Card on Marix โ the code will arrive by email
- Make sure your Apple ID is set to Turkey (Settings โ your name โ Media & Purchases โ Country/Region)
- Open App Store โ tap your profile photo โ "Redeem Gift Card or Code"
- Enter the code โ balance is credited
- Purchases now draw from your Apple ID balance โ no card required
Alternative: Turkish virtual card
Some fintech services allow issuing virtual cards with a Turkish BIN. This is a more complex route โ a gift card is simpler and more reliable.
Important note
When you switch your Apple ID region, existing subscriptions continue at their current price until the next renewal. After renewal, pricing adjusts to the new regional rate.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use a TR Gift Card with a non-Turkish Apple ID?
Only if your Apple ID is switched to the Turkey region. TR cards don't activate in other App Store regions.
How often does Apple allow region changes?
Typically no more than once every 90 days, and only after all active subscriptions have either ended or been transferred.
What if the TR Gift Card is also rejected?
Confirm that your Apple ID region is actually set to TR (not just a different country chosen in device settings). Restart the App Store after changing the region.
