Apple Turkey 'Payment Verification Failed' — How to Fix
You created a Turkish Apple ID to take advantage of Turkish App Store pricing, attached your card, tried to pay — and Apple responded: "Payment verification failed." The card itself works elsewhere, but the Turkish App Store rejects it. This is standard for any user without a Turkish bank account.
Why this happens
- The card was issued outside Turkey. Apple Turkey checks the card's country of issue via BIN. Russian, Kazakh, Georgian, EU, or US cards on a Turkish Apple ID are auto-declined.
- Billing address is not Turkish. When setting up the TR Apple ID, you entered a Turkish address. But if your card tries to charge in TRY with non-TR billing, Apple flags the mismatch and blocks.
- The card is anchored to another Apple ID. Apple binds each card to the first account it was attached to. Adding the same card to a second Apple ID — especially across regions — often fails verification.
- Fraud lock after repeated failures. If you've retried 3+ times in a row, Apple temporarily blocks all attempts on this Apple ID. The cooldown is 24 hours.
How to fix it
- Remove every saved card. Settings → [your name] → Media & Purchases → View Account → Manage Payments → delete each card. Set payment method to None.
- Don't try another foreign card. Adding a second non-Turkish card retriggers the fraud filter. Any non-TR card will fail.
- Buy an iTunes Turkey gift card. This is the only practical way to fund a Turkish Apple ID without a Turkish bank card. Common denominations: ₺100, ₺250, ₺500.
- Redeem the code. App Store on iPhone → profile icon → Redeem Gift Card or Code → enter the code manually or via camera. The amount credits your balance in TRY.
- Use the balance for apps and subscriptions. One-off purchases (apps, movies) draw directly from TRY balance. Subscriptions (Apple Music, iCloud+, third-party) may still require a card on file — a virtual Turkish card (Wirex, Pyypl) or Family Sharing with a TR organizer covers that gap.
- Confirm Apple ID region. Settings → Media & Purchases → View Account → Country/Region = Turkey. Without this, the TR gift card won't redeem.
