'Your Purchase Could Not Be Completed' on App Store โ How to Fix
When you try to buy an app, subscription, or in-app item, App Store responds: "Your purchase could not be completed." Apple doesn't tell you what went wrong โ this is an umbrella message for several different problems. The fix depends on which one applies: billing, region, network, or Apple itself.
Why this happens
- Billing address doesn't match account region. Your Apple ID is set to, say, US, but the billing address in Manage Payments is Russian. The payment system rejects the transaction before processing.
- Card blocked by issuing bank for foreign purchases. Russian, Belarusian, Kazakh cards are often blocked by the bank for international payments to US/EU merchants. The card works domestically but won't buy on App Store.
- Regional product restriction. An app or movie is available in some countries and not in others. If your Apple ID can't buy it, Apple shows the same generic error.
- Apple-side outage. Sometimes App Store, iTunes Store, or the payment validation system is down. Visible at apple.com/support/systemstatus.
How to fix it
- Check Apple System Status. Open
apple.com/support/systemstatusand look for green dots on App Store, iTunes Store, and iCloud Account & Sign In. If any are yellow or red, wait 1โ2 hours and retry. This is the single most common cause of "out of nowhere" errors when things worked fine yesterday. - Match billing with account region. Settings โ [your name] โ Media & Purchases โ View Account โ Manage Payments. The address must be in the same country as the account's Country/Region. US region = US address.
- Swap the payment method. In Manage Payments, remove the failing card and add a different one valid in the target country, or set to None and pay from balance (if available).
- Check for outstanding billing. Settings โ Media & Purchases โ Subscriptions. If any subscription says "There is a billing issue with a previous purchase," resolve it before retrying.
- Sign out and back in. Settings โ [your name] โ Media & Purchases โ Sign Out. Reboot the device. Sign in and retry.
- Try another device or the Mac App Store. Sometimes iOS App Store caches a stale error while the Mac App Store or
apps.apple.comon the web completes the purchase fine.

The safer way
If the card is the issue, fund your Apple ID with an iTunes gift card and buy apps from the balance. Marix sells US and Turkey cards with email delivery in 1โ10 minutes, paying with RU cards, SBP, or international methods. This removes the bank-card dependency and most "could not be completed" errors disappear, since Apple simply deducts from your existing wallet.
