Cannot Buy PS Plus on Turkish Account — Why and How to Subscribe
PS Plus Essential, Extra or Deluxe shows the Turkish price in TR Store, the Subscribe button is active — but on confirmation Sony returns an error or "Subscription could not be purchased". This is the most common PS Plus problem for non-Turkish users. The main reason: Sony requires a valid auto-renew payment method for subscriptions, and a foreign card on a TR account never passes the check.
Why this error happens
- Sony requires an auto-renew capable card. Unlike one-off purchases, subscriptions need a verified payment method. A foreign card on a TR account doesn't qualify.
- Wallet balance is short. Sony allows wallet-only payment for PS Plus, but the balance must cover the full plan in one go.
- Another subscription is active. If you already have PS Plus Essential, switching to Extra goes through an upgrade flow that frequently demands a card.
- Region limits. Some plans (annual Extra, for example) may not display if Sony misreads your account region.
How to fix it
- Top up the wallet for the full plan amount first. PS Plus Essential 12 months in Turkey runs around 1199 TRY — you need a voucher of that size or larger.
- Remove every saved card. [Settings] → [Account] → [Wallet] → [Payment Methods] → delete. With no cards saved, Sony defaults to wallet payment.
- Open PS Plus. [Settings] → [Users and Accounts] → [Account] → [PlayStation Plus] → pick a plan.
- Confirm the purchase. The payment screen must show "Wallet (TRY)" as the method. If Sony insists on a card, try the same purchase through a browser at store.playstation.com.
- For Essential → Extra upgrades Sony charges the difference. Keep extra balance to cover it.
