PSN 'The Code Is Incorrect' Error — Causes and Fix
The message "The code is incorrect. Please try again." appears when you try to redeem a 12-digit voucher in [Redeem Codes]. Sony doesn't explain why — it sounds like you got a bad code. In reality that's rare: 80% of the time the cause is a typo, a region mismatch, or a code for a different service. Here is how to verify each.
Why this error happens
- Typo while entering. Most common cause. 0 and O, 1 and I, 8 and B all look alike. Sony compares character by character — one wrong symbol equals "incorrect".
- Voucher region doesn't match account region. A Turkish TRY code on a US account returns incorrect. Sony doesn't say "wrong region" — it says incorrect.
- Code already redeemed. If the code was used previously (on this or another account), it cannot be redeemed again.
- Code is for a different service. Apple Gift Card, Steam or Xbox codes typed into PSN are rejected.
How to fix it
- Re-enter slowly, character by character. 0 is zero, O is the letter. 1 is one, I is letter i. If typing on PS5 is painful, scan the QR code in the [PS App] using your phone camera.
