PSN Removed My Payment Method on Turkish Account — Why and Workaround
You open [Wallet] → [Payment Methods] and the section is empty — even though yesterday a foreign Visa or Mastercard was clearly attached. Sony sent no notification, no email, no warning. The card just disappears. This is not a glitch: Sony deliberately removes non-Turkish cards from Turkish accounts. The fraud system runs continuously and periodically cleans up region mismatches.
Why this error happens
- Card BIN is not Turkish. Sony periodically cross-checks saved cards against account region. A foreign BIN on a TR account is auto-removed.
- Suspected ToS workaround. Sony treats using a foreign-region storefront with a local card as a violation. They don't ban immediately, but they strip the payment method.
- Card seen on multiple accounts. One card across several regional accounts triggers removal from all but one.
- Past chargebacks or complaints. A card with chargeback history on PSN ends up on Sony's internal blacklist.
How to fix it
- Do not re-add the same card. Sony will remove it again within a day and may temporarily restrict the account.
- Do not try a different foreign card. The BIN-check algorithm is the same.
- Never file a chargeback. One bank reversal on PSN equals an account ban, often permanent.
- Use vouchers for every future top-up. Unlike cards, PSN doesn't "remove" voucher balance — once it's in your wallet, it stays.
- If you really need a card method, get a Turkish virtual card (Papara, Param) or PayPal with a Turkish account. Possible but slow and fee-heavy.
