Riot Code Already Redeemed — What to Do and Can You Recover VP
"This code has already been redeemed" is the worst error a Riot Prepaid Card buyer can see. Money is paid, the code is in hand, and Valorant says VP went to someone else's account. Riot does not refund or reassign these codes. The resolution is always on the seller's side, and whether you get your money back depends entirely on where you bought the code.
Why this error happens
- The code was resold multiple times. Grey-market practice: the same PIN sold to 2–5 buyers. The first one activates — everyone else gets "already redeemed".
- The seller redeemed it themselves. A scammer sells you a code, then redeems it on their own account a few minutes after your payment — before you can.
- Card was scratched at retail. Physical cards in Turkey/EU stores occasionally arrive with tampered packaging — a cashier may have photographed the PIN and sold it on the side.
- Code from a data breach. Rare but real: stolen Riot codes hit the grey market, and by the time you pay, the original legitimate buyer has already redeemed it.
How to fix it
- Screenshot the error in Riot Client. Open
redeem.riotgames.comor Riot Client → Settings → Account → Redeem Codes, enter the code, capture the "already redeemed" message with date and time. - Don't try other accounts. It won't help — Riot ties redemption to the first activation, not to the account.
- Contact the seller immediately. Speed matters for refund odds. Attach the error screenshot, payment receipt and the code (or last 4 chars).
- Don't open a bank chargeback right away. First give the seller a chance to replace or refund. A chargeback ends the conversation.
- If the seller ignores you — escalate to the platform. Marketplaces like eBay, Kinguin or G2A have dispute systems. Without a platform — bank chargeback after 7–14 days.
- Riot Support does NOT help with resold codes. Official position: "We cannot reissue redeemed codes. Contact your seller." That's the final answer.
