Xbox Game Pass Not Available in Your Region — How to Subscribe in 2026
You're trying to sign up for Xbox Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate, and Microsoft says "Game Pass is not available in your region," or there's simply no Join button. This is the typical situation for accounts in Russia, Belarus, and several other countries since 2022. The good news: Game Pass can still be activated via a subscription code.
Why this happens
- Microsoft cut off direct Game Pass sales in several regions. Russia and Belarus most prominently. You can't pay for the subscription directly with a card.
- The account region doesn't include Game Pass for Console / PC / Ultimate. Some countries historically have only part of Microsoft's product catalog, and Game Pass isn't part of it.
- Payment method doesn't work for the region. Even if Game Pass is technically available, your card may be rejected (see our separate article on "payment instrument mismatch").
- Regional content restrictions. Sometimes Game Pass shows up but signup is refused due to local regulation.
How to fix it
- Check whether your region supports Game Pass. Open
xbox.com/games/xbox-game-passin a browser and sign in. If there's no "Join" button, your region isn't supported. - Buy a Game Pass subscription code. This is the easiest bypass. A Game Pass Ultimate code (1, 3, 6, or 12 months) is redeemed at
redeem.microsoft.comand adds the subscription regardless of whether the region can sign up by card. - Redeem:
redeem.microsoft.com→ sign in → enter the code → confirm. The subscription applies immediately. - If the code won't activate, check the region — global Game Pass codes work almost everywhere, but some regional codes (e.g. Game Pass Argentina) only redeem on accounts in that region.
- If your region isn't supported at all, create a separate account in a supported region (Turkey, Argentina, USA) and redeem the code there. You can play the games on the same console via Home Xbox.
