A common misconception: "If I enable a Turkish VPN, Google Play will show Turkish prices." This is not how Google Play works.
Why VPN Doesn't Change an Existing Account's Region
Google Play determines your region from your payment profile, not your current IP address. VPN changes your IP, but your payment profile country stays the same.
Result: VPN has no effect on the region of an already-created Google account.
When VPN Does Help: Creating New Accounts
During new account creation, Google uses your IP (and SIM card) to determine the region. VPN is useful here:
- Enable VPN โ Turkey/India/USA
- Create new Google account
- Enter an address from the target country
- First Google Play sign-in โ region set based on VPN
After account creation, you can disable VPN.
What Actually Changes Your Region
- Google Payments Profile โ Country (once per year, with conditions)
- Google Play Settings โ Country and profiles (once per year)
- Creating a new account with VPN active during signup
Summary
VPN doesn't change an existing Google Play region. Create a new account with VPN to get a different regional account. To add funds without any VPN, buy a regional gift card at marix.app and redeem it in the matching account.
