Why Google One Family Doesn't Work in Another Region
You paid for Google One with Family Sharing, invited a family member โ but it won't activate for them. Or it activated, then stopped working. The reason is Google's regional restrictions.
How Google One Determines Member Region
When you invite someone to a family group, Google checks the payment profile region of each member. If regions don't match โ the member can't use the family storage.
Specific Scenarios
Scenario 1: Organizer in Turkey, member in Russia
Organizer set up Google One through a Turkish account. Russian member accepts the invitation, but storage doesn't activate. Reason: accounts are in different regions.
Scenario 2: Member moved or changed region
If a member was previously in the same region but then changed countries โ access to family storage stops.
Scenario 3: Account without a region
If a member hasn't set up a payment profile (no country at all) โ Google may not allow them into the family group.
What Google Does in These Cases
- Invitation may be accepted, but storage doesn't appear
- Google may show "Members must be from the same country" error
- In some cases everything works, but then drops out over time
Solutions
Option 1: All family members switch their accounts to the same region. This works but requires each person to change country (once a year).
Option 2: Everyone buys a separate subscription via Google Play Gift Card for their own region. Less economical, but stable.
Option 3: Buy a subscription through marix.app โ we'll find a solution for your situation and help navigate regional restrictions.
Summary
Google One Family works only when all members are in the same region. Different countries mean different restrictions. If you're facing this problem โ contact us at marix.app.
