Why Google Play Doesn't Allow Country Change More Than Once a Year
You've already changed country in Google Play and want to do it again, but see: "You can't change your country right now." This is an intentional Google restriction, and here's why it exists.
Official Reason from Google
Google limits country changes to once every 12 months to prevent abuse of the regional pricing system. Without this restriction, users could:
- Switch to the cheapest region for every purchase
- Constantly change regions to get different promotions
- Use different regions to bypass restrictions
How It Works Technically
Google records the date of the last country change in the payment profile. Until 12 months pass from that date โ changing is blocked. No exceptions are provided.
What You Can Do
Option 1: Wait Wait until 12 months have passed since the last change. Google will send a notification or you'll see the change option in settings.
Option 2: Create a New Account A new Google account can be set up with the desired region from the start. The restriction applies to the account, not the device.
Option 3: Buy Subscription via marix.app If you need a subscription from another region right now โ buy through marix.app. We set up subscriptions without being tied to your account's restrictions.
How to Find Out When You Can Change Country
In Google Play settings โ "Country and profiles", it usually shows when the next change is available. If not shown โ count 12 months from the date of the last change.
Summary
The 12-month restriction is Google's policy โ it can't be bypassed. But you can create a new account or buy a subscription through marix.app.
